Is the Google’s Pixel 8 Series True Flagship? Know the Issues with Google’s latest devices

Google’s Pixel phones have always been reliable because of their impressive camera and clean stick UI. But can only a great Camera make a phone great? The answer is obviously no. To be the best on the market, a smartphone should be outstanding in performance, battery, design, and many other sectors.

It has been almost six months since Google announced its newest pixPixelseries. The phone has received many positive reviews, but after using it for over 4 and a half months, our expert team found many issues. This article will focus on the problems and issues holding the Pixel 8 series from being a proper flagship device.

Is Tensor G3 enough?

Google’s first Pixel device came with the latest powerful Snapdragon 821 processor. Pixel’s smooth UI and this flagship processor made the device unbeatable. Later, Pixel used Snapdragon chipsets until the Pixel 5 series. The Pixel 5 came with a Snapdragon 765 SOC. The SD 765 was a mid-range processor, but it could handle the device’s workload well.

Then Google decided to collaborate with Samsung and introduce a new Processor for Pixel devices, the Tensor processor. The Google Tensor came with a 5 nm architecture and many promises. It was used in the Pixel 6 devices but couldn’t fulfill the demands. The Tensor GPUs were 60% slower than the Snapdragon’s flagship processor. Besides, the first generation of Tensor CPUs came with many bugs.

Time passed, and Google released Tensor G3 with the Pixel 8 devices. Many bugs and issues were solved in the third generation of the GPU, but Google lacked the main thing on these phones: power. If you have bought a Pixel 8 Pro for $1099, you may wish to have a powerful processor. But the Processor can’t handle heavy usage. Pixel 8 Pro devices are reported to have issues while multitasking, throttling down after an hour of heavy tasks.

I suppose you are looking for a device that provides a smooth experience without doing any heavy work. In that case, you can choose the Pixel 8 device. Google should work on improving its processor capability and consider going back to Snapdragon’s flagship processors.

Poor Graphics Processing Unit (GPU):

The graphics processing unit, or GPU, is essential to a device. Goggle’s Pixel 8 devices come with the new Immortalis-G715s MC10 GPU. On paper, the GPU has the potential for gaming, and the graphics-related mobile device works, But how does it perform in real life?

After our use, we saw that the GPU is also lagging behind the Pixel 8 devices like the Processor. While playing games, the framerates often drop and drop; it doesn’t provide consistent performance like Qualcomm’s Adreno or Apple ‘sApple’s GPUs.

Over-sharpening on camera

Pixel means camera phone. After Google released Pixel 1, the mobile phone industry saw a new era of phone cameras. The detailed photos taken with top-notch hardware and brilliant post-processing made every photo beautiful. As time passed, Google brought many updates to improve its camera.

In Pixel 8, the camera category outruns other flagships in many categories. However, some users have started to complain about excessive overprocessing in photos. The oversharpening made the human face unrealistic in certain conditions. The camera’s low-light performance camera’s low light performance is still unbeatable. However, it still lags behind in taking videos from its competitors.

Overheating is not new.

Are you a Pixel user who is not facing an overheating issue? It’s unusual because the phone is famous for its overheating issues. The problem first appeared on Pixel 6 Pro, reporting that the Google tensor processor heats a lot.

The issue has not been solved much, not even in the latest Pixel 8 series. The phone gets warmer as soon as you start recording videos or taking portrait shots. Besides, it gets choppy while it heats. Some people say that Google has not made this phone for the summer season. The temperature often crosses 45 degrees Celsius even during normal use.

Mobile Network Issues

Like the heating issue, Pixel phones have always suffered from network issues. In most countries, where mobile network bands are not that powerful, Pixel devices struggle to perform.

The network issues in the Pixel 8 series still need to be solved. As a result, the users reported frequent call drops, even with the best cellular career. Besides, cellular data makes Pixel 8 and 8 Pros warmer.
