Google will launch its mid-budget new device in the Pixel 8 series, the Pixel 8a. Google usually releases its mid-budget ‘A’ series after 6-8 months of the regular series’ release. According to leaks and rumors, the Pixel 8 series will be one of the most anticipated devices, with many upgrades to last year’s 7a. But will it outperform Samsung’s new S24? Let’s discuss it in our article.
Higher starting price than the Pixel 7a:
The Pixel 7a was released with a $500 price tag, which made it a mid-budget king. However, as per our analysis, the PixelPixel 8a will be launched at a higher price tag of $570. There are some reasons behind this, as the 8a will get some upgrades.
Firstly, the display will be better with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Besides, you may get an Android OS upgrade for up to 5 years on this device. With more specs, the increased starting price seemed normal to us.
What are the Rumored Pixel 8a Specs?
The PixelPixel 8a has not been officially announced, but according to our sources, the phone will be available by May 14. The phone will have a gorilla glass-protected front with aluminum sides. However, the back panel is rumored to be made of plastic. The phone will have an IP67 rating. As we mentioned earlier, the display will change. A new OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate will be introduced to the A series for the first time.
In the performance sector, we will see a boost as the processor is upgraded to Tensor G3. Though there are some complaints about this processor, it is better and more optimized than the Pixel 7a’s Tensor G1. The phone will come in an 8 GB RAM and 256 GB Storage variant.
The primary camera of Pixel 8a will be 64 megapixels, with OIS and a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera with an ultrawide sensor. We have seen how unique the cameras of Pixel 7a were, so we are expecting no compromise in the Pixel 8a’s camera this year. The front camera will be 13 megapixels.
The battery will be 4500 mAh, a minor upgrade from last year’s 4385 mAh. This year, we expect less heating in the back panel. The phone will come in three colors: Mint, Bay, and Porcelain.
Pixel 8a vs Samsung Galaxy s24:
The Pixel’s series focuses on mid-range phone users. The 8a will be on the market to capture mainly the mid-budget segment this year. But the Samsung Galaxy s24 comes with a price tag of $ 799.99, almost $200 more than the Pixel’s. Will this extra $200 will give you that much value? Let’s see.
Pixel will use the Tensor G3 in the 8a, which they used in their flagship model, Pixel 8 Pro. However, the Galaxy S24 will come with an Exynos chipset. They are not putting the 8 Gen 3 in this device. So, you will see very minor differences in performance between these two devices. The Pixel 8a will perform better in many conditions for the Flagship processor.
In the case of software, the 8a will come with Google’s fluent stock UI, so you will get the most refined software experience ever. The bugs are almost nil in Google’s Stock UI. The Galaxy S24 comes with One UI 6.1, with tons of new AI features. Google’s Pixel bought AI many years back in the market, but Samsung’s Galaxy UI is showing more promises.
The Galaxy S24 offers better battery backup and heating management. Besides, Samsung’s display can outperform any other display in the world, so your media viewing experience will be better in the S24. However, with Google Pixel 8a, you will get the latest Google Android updates at the fastest speed.
At last, let’s talk about the camera. Spec-wise, the Galaxy S24’s camera seems ahead of the Pixel 8a. But last year, we saw how amazing the cameras of the Pixel 7a were. This phone could outperform almost all the flagship devices, including the Galaxy 23 ultra, iPhone 14 pro max and many more, in the camera section. So, we believe that this year, it won’t be different, and the Pixel 8a will keep all the promises in the camera section.
So, which one should I Buy?
Now, when it comes to buying only one of the two, we suggest you buy based on your personal preference. However, according to our analysis, the Pixel 8a will be better than the other device.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a brighter and better display, an extra 10 MP telephoto sensor, and better heating and battery management. But with Pixel, you will get all of Google’s premium services, including seven years of software support, a better camera, a flagship processor and a very smooth software experience. Now, the choice is yours.
